Welcome!
We are a civic association of nearly 1000 homes in North Bethesda, comprising Old Farm, Tilden Woods, Walnut Woods, and Hickory Woods. We promote the civic and social well-being of our community through service, community enhancement, social events, education, and advocacy. Residents are encouraged to become dues-paying members of the Greater Farmland Civic Association and to participate in established committees or to approach the board with new ideas. |

All sorts of fun activities are being planned. Bring the whole family or come solo to enjoy a winter gathering with our wonderful neighbor-friends. Growing Native & Pollinator Plants? Get Your GFCA Yard Sign!
JOIN the February 19, 2025, Neighbor Talks
Zoom Discussion
After extensive planning, GFCA's Environmentalism-at-Home group is unveiling a community-wide program to highlight our commitment to native-plant gardening. With participation around the neighborhood, we can assist our pollinators and help the birds and butterflies native to our region. Every single plant or small garden plot helps.
If you have planted any native plants, plan to, or will be expanding your "patch," and don't spray pesticides in your garden, you can post a sign, like the one pictured, at your curb. We have a new page at greaterfarmland.org/homegrown-national-park, which explains the program, and the QR code on the sign goes directly to it. |
Go to the bottom of this page to order your weatherproof aluminum 8"x10" yard sign for only $10!
GFCA is subsidizing the balance of the cost.

The Pollinator Patch yard sign is available for any households that are planting, growing, or expanding native, pollinator-friendly plants and are not using pesticides. The yard sign is 8"x10", outdoor-ready, and can be posted at the curbside to show your participation in encouraging eco-friendly gardening. Your patch can be any size!

Huge thanks to Suzanne and Erica for organizing and running the Karen Lipsy Memorial Yard Sale. They introduced some innovations and included North Farm so the sale could be as large and busy as possible. Many neighbors sold and bought some great items.
Community Day was a Big Success
We had our big blowout annual party on June 1. About 300 members of our community feasted on lunch, catered by Moby Dick House of Kabob. Activities included corn hole, a bounce house, pony rides, and arts & crafts. The environmental group gave away free mosquito dunk kits, potted native plants from Marjorie Raley's garden, and information about native gardening and recycling.
Re-introducing a Neighbor2Neighbor Exhibition at the General Meeting
At our April 3 meeting, we held the annual election for board directors and the Environmentalism-at-Home Group summarized past and ongoing programs. Ten community members exhibited their businesses, hobbies, and organizations at the Neighbor2Neighbor event. It was fascinating! We will be repeating and expanding this event for the 2025 April General Meeting. See this site for further information.
We Had a Great Time at Our Winter-on-the-Farmland Party on Jan. 7
Neighbors gathered to participate in the book exchange, Environmentalism-at-Home group's Seed Bomb project, homemade desserts, cookies by Summer House in Pike & Rose, hot chocolate by Jen Eckels of Compass Realty, and coloring & sudoku table, food bank collection, along with entertainment by:
- "Secret Gardens Birds & Bees" Raptor Presentation - Conservators presented and discussed live birds of prey
- Turley The Magician - Turley performed close-up slight of hand along with a 45-minute magic show
- A Capella Concert by 4Heart Harmony - Our community's own a capella group lifted our spirits with song!
