In July, 2021, the GFCA Board conducted a survey of the neighborhood to ensure we are hearing from each of you on the types of events you would find valuable, as well as the ways we communicate with you. In an effort to support and serve the entire Greater Farmland community we asked that members of the community share their feedback on the events we have held in the past as well as ideas for the future. We received over 150 responses with a range of feedback on the ways in which we can plan to hold events in the future safely. The Board met on July 27th to discuss the results and begin to make plans to incorporate them.
There was overwhelming support for holding events in person outside in a safe and compliant way. When reviewing the results of the survey, the GFCA Board agreed to follow the Montgomery County guidelines regarding planning indoor and outdoor events. We hope that with this decision we will provide clarity for the neighborhood as to how we will approach planning and potentially cancelling events.
As we look forward, we have begun planning for an event that we hope can bring the community back together again. We received some wonderful suggestions on how we can gather outdoors, and look forward to involving the new volunteers that came in through the survey. Among the numerous suggestions made, a common one being support for block parties. Did you know the GFCA will provide support for you to plan a block party?
